Employer is a band who’s genre has been morphed and relabeled over the decades. At their most basic, they are simply a 3 piece rock band. In the early 90’s they would have been called college rock. In the late 90’s; garage rock. The early 2000’s they would have been closely akin to emo. Today I think they would be most generalized as an alternative rock or indie rock band. All of those titles are technically correct and they describe the same style; Guitar centric music played with powerful dynamic. It’s simple, energetic, and compelling, and that’s why it has made it’s lasting stamp in music culture.
